The Care Quality Commission (CQC) announced that it would be assessing the adult social care services provided by Hounslow Council in December 2023. The assessment aims to determine how effectively local authorities deliver the health and social care services they provide to residents, against national standards.
Preparations for the CQC assessment have been underway since the announcement. On Friday, 19 January 2024 the council successfully submitted information regarding interview planning contact names, case tracking, self-assessment and Theme and Quality Statement evidence. During week commencing Monday, 22 January 2024, the Council’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) met with the CQC assessors.
What next?
The next milestone will be when the CQC Assessment Team makes a site visit to Hounslow during the week commencing Tuesday, 20 February. The seven-strong team of assessors will visit Hounslow for three days, to meet and speak with a cross-section of Council staff, partners and residents who use Adult Social Care services. The assessment team will be based on the third floor of Hounslow House and will visit other parts of the building as well as other locations across the borough.

The CQC Assessment team will host a series of drop-in sessions at Hounslow House aimed at staff who might not meet the team as part of the assessment process. These sessions are a chance for colleagues to get involved and provide the CQC team with feedback.
