Online Zero Suicide Alliance Suicide Awareness training

In the run up to World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September, the BBP is encouraging all staff, and partners to take 20 minutes out of their day to do the online Zero Suicide Alliance Suicide Awareness training -  https://www.zerosuicidealliance.com/suicide-awareness-training

As sadly over the last ten years 200 Hounslow residents have died by suicide and every single suicide is a tragic loss, that leaves a long-lasting effect on the people who cared about them.

The training is very practical and uses three scenarios to help you:

  1. Spot suicide warning signs
  2. Have a conversation with someone you’re worried about
  3. Know where to signpost to for further support

The Hounslow Public Health Team are promoting it as one small thing we can all do to support suicide prevention in Hounslow.  Once people have completed  the training, please take a photograph holding the ‘pledge poster’ just like Jaz Gill, Health Outreach Team Manger from Hounslow Council, to help encourage others to do the training as well.

The Hounslow Public Health team have produced a Hounslow branded A3 poster for you to print here

They will also be developing a campaign web page where they will be adding more photos like these, and hopefully with social media added into the mix to help develop campaign momentum.

Please help by taking the training and offering to be one of the first to have your photo taken with the poster.  If you could encourage colleagues, partners, and other contacts to do the same and send their photos to publichealth@hounslow.gov.uk that would be much appreciated.

Hounslow council have also created a new web page which lists information for anyone in need of immediate and non-immediate support. There is also information on suicide bereavement support and local and national helplines -
