Get Ready for World Mental Health Day (10 Oct)

This World Mental Health Day (Tuesday 10 October) The West London NHS trust are keen to invite people to visit the Wellbeing & Recovery College for an open day at Brentford Community Sports Trust.

The open day will take place from 11am to 2pm and visitors will have an opportunity to view the centre, meet with team members and learn about available courses and programmes. 

Visitors will also be able to get involved in taster sessions including breathing/grounding, drumming and stress management courses.

The open day will be followed by a panel discussion from 2pm to 4pm with a range of experts discussing the theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day – ‘Mental Health is a Universal Human Right’.

Gail Dearing, Associate Director of Community and Recovery Mental Health Services at West London NHS Trust said: “The open day and discussions, featuring experts and interactive taster sessions will help everyone to engage in meaningful conversations and explore holistic approaches to mental well-being. Join us in this collective effort; attend for a glimpse or stay for the full journey. Let us come together to make mental health a priority.”

The Wellbeing & Recovery College is a training and resource centre which develops and delivers education and tools to support wellbeing and the self-management of mental health difficulties.  They work with people to support them in there recovery or to help them support someone for whom they care.

They offer a wide range of courses to people using the Trust’s mental health services, staff, carers, families and supporters.  They are also available to local authorities and partner organisations.

Courses are co-produced and delivered by a member of Trust staff and at least one peer trainer, recognising the equal value of professional training and lived experience and expertise.
