Purpose
The Hounslow Intermediate Care Project engaged independent consumer champion Healthwatch Hounslow to analyse the transcripts of interviews conducted with 25 patients who had used the Community Recovery Service (CRS) within a six-month period.
The objective of the research was to help BBP partners understand the experience of its service users to see which areas required improvement and which areas were working well, as well as identify any the gaps within the current CRS offer.
Interviews were conducted by the project group by randomly selecting 25 patients who had been in receipt of the CRS during a six-month period in 2022.
Interviews were conducted between August and September 2022.
- 36% of patients alluded to having pre-existing mobility issues.
- 13 out of 25 said they understood their treatment plan.
- 6 out of 25 directly answered "yes" when asked if understood what CRS was.
- 60% of patients said they had no improvements to recommend for CRS.
- 56% of patients were positive about being discharged from CRS with adequate preparation.
- 56% of patients said they were not referred to any other service before CRS.
- 64% of patients did not feel anything could have been done to prevent their accidents from happening.
- 60% reported an improvement to their independence.
- 25% reported no change.
- 15% reported a decrease - however, some answers may refer to health prior to getting ill.
